Ski Ward has just installed a new Latitude 90, an all-weather snowmaking machine. No longer limited by the weather to make snow, the resort has been running the gun for 24 hours and plans to test it all week. Please don’t get too excited yet; the ground temperatures mean it has a pretty high melt rate this time of year.

After that, the staff hopes to fire the machine back up on October 1st and hopefully start the season a month early in the first week of November, with early season lesson offerings. Once we’re into fall and the weather is a little cooler, they can create much larger piles of snow.

Just minutes from Worcester and less than an hour from Boston, Ski Ward is a small area with something for everyone. Ski Ward is open year-round, offering skiing, snowboarding, and tubing in winter and summer, birthday parties, group outings, and corporate functions. Ski Ward also hosts the Slopeside Bar & Grill, serving lunch, dinner, beer, wine, and ice cream indoors and outdoors on a patio with fantastic views.

The winter offers nine trails, four lifts, eight tubing lanes, a rental shop, and a snow school with more than 100 instructors teaching private and group lessons, multi-week lessons, and vacation lesson programs.

The summer hosts three professional volleyball courts and a tubing park, perfect for field trips, day camps, and birthday parties.
