BREMEN - South Bend Clay High School will close at the end of this school year and its athletic teams seem to be limping to the finish line, but don’t count the girls volleyball team among them.

Bremen hosted the Lady Colonials for a Northern Indiana Conference match Tuesday night and saw first-hand a team full of hitters led by the NIC’s reigning Coach of the Year.

“They were good last year and they are better this year,” said Bremen head coach Heather Orcutt, whose team lost in straight sets. “They have good hitters, good setters and are scrappy.”
