Car show benefit in Wellsville
There will be a car show benefit at the Gazebo on Main Street in Wellsville from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday; car registration starts at 3 p.m. Dave Byers and Cassie will perform classic rock hits from 4 to 5:30 p.m., followed by DJ Greg Pullie from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will include door prizes for car owners and dash plaques, and the show is judged. There will also be six food vendors – Carr’s Barbecue, Beefy Backaroo, Gia’s Goodies, State Rte Pizza, Nick’s Pizza (take out) and Some Place Else (grilling out) – as well as craft vendors and a 50/50 raffle to benefit Eyes on Wellsville’s children’s events. Eyes on Wellsville is also accepting toy donations for their annual Christmas Toy Drive. Car registration is by donations to help with upkeep of Veterans Memorial on Riverside Avenue. September hikes
The Wampum Chapter, North Country Trail Association has announced its September slate of hikes.
The first is a Pancake-Clarkson night hike from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 5. Meet at Gretchen’s Lock/Group Camp. The hike will depart promptly at 6 p.m. This is a 6-mile moderate paced (3 mile per hour) hike. The terrain has plenty of elevation changes to get the heart pumping.
The Lisbon Appleseed Greenway Hike will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 16, meeting at the Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trailhead, Lisbon Train Station. This hike is 3 miles out and back, easy hiking. Bring water and wear appropriate footwear.
The final event is a Fall Evening Hike on Pancake-Clarkson from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 19, meeting at the Pancake Clarkson NCT parking lot. This will be a moderate paced (3 mile per hour) 6-mile hike. The terrain has plenty of elevation changes to get the heart pumping. The hike will be from Pancake-Clarkson to state Route 170, with a short breather before heading back. Make sure to bring plenty of water and wear proper hiking shoes/boots.
TOPS 1341
GLENMOOR — Tops Chapter 1341 met Monday at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church with Co-Leader Dorothy Garn presiding. The Best Loser was Dena White and there was a tie between Lydia Kraft and Judy McComas for runner up.
Drawing winners were: Garn – Calorie Chart, McComas – Weight Loss, White – Junk Food and Pat Allison – 50/50.
Losing 3 Weeks in a Row was Lydia Kraft and Cathy Wollam. Two members remain on the Check Contest. Atendance Book -Mary Gailey, Cindy Hayes and Becky Andrews, each for eight weeks. Allison will hold the Travel Box for week 1 starting next week.
Cathy Wollam presented a program from Everyday Health about the many ways that stress can lead to weight gain.
After some discussion, the meeting ended with The Lord’s Prayer. There will be no meeting next week due to Labor Day. For meeting information, call 330-386-0151.
