There's no denying it. Periods can seriously get in the way of every-day life, especially when we perform activities that requires a lot of movement. Luckily, some brands know about this and have developed specially designed 'leak-proof' shorts that are perfect for when you're on your period - like Nike.

The Nike period shorts are currently on sale right now and you can bag yourself a pair for just £38.47. They are also on sale at ASOS but is selling for £49.95 and £54 at Lyst.

This menstrual innovation from the athletic brand also comes in different colours. You can purchase the Nike One Leak Protection Biker Shorts in grey, black, blue and fuchsia pink.

So what material do they use that exactly makes them 'leak proof?' Well, according to Nike, they're 'made with an ultra-thin liner that helps prevent leaks when worn as a back-up to your usual protection.' So far they're already becoming a hit with Nike fans, with 4.4 out of 5 stars being the overall rating.

One fan who bought a pair said: "No matter how sweaty I get, the dry fit really works much better than some of the other bottoms. These ones stay looking dry on the outside and don’t really show my sweat at all, it’s magic! And the extra leak protection liner just makes me feel so much more confident, I’m definitely getting another pair."

A second shopper raved: "Ok ladies these are a game changer! I can’t praise these shorts enough. They have built in underwear. Not only that, they are also a backup to prevent period leaks. Say goodbye to seam lines and uncomfortable pads. They look and feel great. Seem very durable and are true to size. I have worn them running and during yoga and they have been amazing."

One or two buyers weren't overly keen on the shorts, with one customer saying: "First, the fit of these are true to size. I really like the length and the look of the shorts. The fabric feels nice and structured giving good support. However, I did not like the brief lining. It was too restrictive and cut in. I would change that part of the shorts because the rest was really great."

A second person commented: "I am usually a size small in Nike apparel but, these shorts seem a bit small. It may be because the material is not very stretchy. I am not sure I can wear these all day but, I do hope they come out with the same style in a more stretchy fabric. Not a fan of the brief lining."
